Celebrity Spotlight: Carlos PenaVega

If you’re an iGeneration member, odds are you recognize Carlos PenaVega as Carlos Garcia, the name of his character on Nickelodeon’s television show Big Time Rush. From 2009-2014, this series about four Minnesotan hockey players who become a boy band was so successful that it was nominated for 21 awards and had 6 wins. But success wasn’t enough for this popstar. Despite all the money and fame, he needed something else. He found that he needed God.

While on ABC’s Dancing With the Stars, Carlos explained, “My band Big Time Rush – we were at the peak of our success. [But] when you get home, it’s just you. The tour ended and I felt really alone.” He hit rock bottom when he started locking himself inside his home to smoke weed almost every day, refusing to talk with anyone.

Luckily, he had a friend who invited him to go to church. Carlos said, “I walk in church and I know that I was supposed to be there. From that Sunday to the next Sunday, my life changed forever.” In 2012, Carlos become a Christian and give his life to Christ.

Since that time, Carlos and Alexa have become a Christian Hollywood power couple. Both appeared together on Dancing With the Stars and were very vocal about their beliefs. Carlos even performed a dance routine to Amazing Grace, one of the first songs he had in church, after telling  the world how Christianity changed his life.
